An Interesting Coincidence

~Genesis 15:13-16~

“Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. And also, the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”

When Israel was groaning in Egypt, God already knew  that was going to happen and so it is not surprising that He acknowledged them at the appointed time. Abraham had been told more than 400 years prior that this would happen in the exact way, with the promise that when it got to that time, He (God) would step in, that moment being the marker for the beginning of phase II of their story.  In Phase I, Israel ended up in Egypt to be catered for out of a divine orchestration through Joseph as recorded in Genesis 39-46.  Long before the move to Egypt occured, God had allotted a stretch of land to Abraham and his descendants by covenant as recorded in Genesis 15:13-16. Thus, the journey back to the land at the time of Moses was preceded far back at the time of Jacob in an unusual way by a journey out from the land into a foreign land that would hold them until the time of Moses, the conceptual stage being the time of Abraham where the contract for the land was sealed by covenant.

When the time God had indicated came, the people of Israel were in the exact condition described to Abraham more than 400 years prior. This confirms that God’s word is true, and the subsequent events prove that He is a keeper of His covenant making Him trustworthy. It is not surprising that as the voices of the children of Israel went up, God acknowledged them and activated the plan for phase II. In a seemingly unconnected series of events, while the people of Israel went about their duties in Egypt and groaning, Moses was tending  sheep  at the foot of Horeb, the mountain of God.  The ensuing encounter through the burning bush and the voice of God instructing a return to Egypt, brings the connection. A coincidence? No, all planned out perfectly at the conceptual stage.  Isn’t it quite amazing that unknowing to the people as they groaned into the ears of God, that God was preparing Moses in Midian to bring a solution?

Be confident in the fact that whatever God has promised, He WILL bring to pass in it’s time. His promises are true, His way is perfect, and His word is proven. That is His character, delivering on His promises.  Be rest assured and let this day bring you joy knowing God has your back. It will all work out for the good.
